How do you possibly automotive help when there may even be a sort of up and down coming of a sort of new 'definition' for EMP we could badly need a good echo like this. When that morphs, one way up or down shall we 'prophesize' as an AutoMagneticPulse, or even worse, AutoMaybePulse?

How do we ever go forward when near anyone can robot hack a future auto?

Mike Luther as N117/100C still in College Station, Texas... Who when this was just FidoNet and there wasn't an Internet, as even a ham in 1952, wandered into
the Citizen's Band with a lousy car that would only get about 10MPG with a 20 gallon gas tank and whose cute name on CB was 'Empty Hole'

Either this lost something in translation or you just failed the Turing Test. ;-)

I know Mark Hoffman likes to post here and he moderates the WWIV
    Automotive echo.

I'm still here. Just caught up on the messages over here today.

After Roy's passing, I decided to do the moderating on the Automotive echo. Sorry for the lack of posts recently. I don't do much with the vehicles in the
winter (or at least try not to).

The last auto project that I completed was in the fall. Our 2001 Durango needed a new A/C compressor since the bearing were shot and it was noisy as hell. Not when the clutch was engaged, but when it was just spinning on the pully.

This was my first A/C job, so it was a learning experience. I also needed lots
of extra gear. Long story short after a few issues, I finally got it completed
properly. I replaced the A/C compressor and A/C accumulator. One of the most important things is getting the proper gaskets for each connection. RockAuto has a kit with all the gaskets, but you have to experiment as to which one is the proper one for each connection.

I also ended up having to replace the ECM/computer on the truck. It was randomly not starting (not even turning on the fuel pump, etc). Mostly would happen when it was hot outside.

To experiement, I removed the computer and put it in the freezer for 30 minutes. Then re-connected it to the truck and it fired right up.

I then bought a reconditioned ECM, which they programmed to my VIN, installed it and everything is good to go.

Now we just need to some snow to drive around in..

My fido was down because my NC had to get a new motherboard for his server. I am back up and running again.
